County’s sports centres, gyms in shape after lockdown Posted On 09 April 2021

Leisure industry ready to help you work off excess pounds

Leisure centre bosses and gym owners across the county breathed a sigh of relief after getting the go-ahead to resume the business of keeping Buckinghamshire’s residents in shape.

The second step of the Government’s roadmap to bring the country out of lockdown was given the green light this week, meaning the leisure industry can open its doors from Monday, April 12th after three months in mothballs – a period which includes calorie-heavy spells such as Christmas, New Year and Easter.

Although they had produced a comprehensive package of online workouts, sports and leisure operators such as Everyone Active – who have 200 leisure centres and facilities across the country, including several in this area – cannot wait to welcome people back.

But safety will be their watchword.

Chris Williams, Everyone Active’s Aylesbury contract manager, told the Bucks Herald: “Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe continues to be our priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance.

“We will be contacting all customers directly over the coming days regarding the centres re-opening and look forward to welcoming everyone back and thank them for their patience.”

Much interest will be focused on the Chesham Leisure Centre, where a new PRAMA Studio has been constructed. It offers a unique experience where the room becomes part of the training with interactive floors and walls, motivational music, LED lights and multimedia projections.

Steve Salwa, Everyone Active’s Chiltern contract manager, said: “We’re very much looking forward to re-opening our centres and welcoming back the local community.

“After being closed for three months, the latest step in the Government’s roadmap is a positive move forward for the leisure industry and gives people of all ages the opportunity to resume activity and exercise in their leisure centre.”

Everyone Active manage The Chiltern Pools and Gym, Chesham Leisure Centre, Chalfont Leisure Centre, Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre, and Swan Pool and Leisure Centre.
